After going out for dinner this evening we made a short walk along the riverside in great light. Here are a few snapshots we made of us:
Watching a tv documentary about the excavations in Stonehenge in 2008 I remembered my photos from the area. As a journalist I had accompanied a tourist group through Dorset in 2000 and taken a lot of (analogue) photos. Some time ago I had already scanned them but had forgotten to upload them to my FlickR. That has been finally done now! The best photos from this trip can be found in an own album there now:
We had been staying in Bournemouth by then and had travelled to see not only Stonehenge…
… but also the Great Dorset Steam Fair…
… which is most definitely one of the craziest events I’ve ever been to!
My favourite photo from this day doesn’t show a steam engine btw. but two old men enjoying a beer far from the crowds:
Though te greatest time I had during this trip was in the early morning hours alone at Bournemuth beach:
At the end of April our friend Timo came to visit us for a day. As we are both into photography and as the weather was fine, we took our cameras and went to the Rhine promenade for a little portrait session.
More photos can be seen on my FlickR.
Yes, I’ve finally done it! And it feels just GREAT! That’s my old me again!
And here’s what remains of my long hair:
(That’s 1 Euro beside the tail so you can see how much it is – in fact there was again as much lying on the floor when the hairdresser had finished)
I’ve promised my hairdresser to use the hair in a painting and make a small one for her too.
Thomas’ sister, her husband and the nephews had come here today in order to celebrate thomas’ birthday with us.
Here are a few snapshots:
Lorenz had his music day today. First the drums:
Then the guitar:
Me and Samuel (who has grown a lot):
Samuel playing:
Samuel dreaming:
Sitting here at work when suddenly I hear marching drums from far. Sound’s getting closer. I look out of the window and see this:
The “Beueler Stadtsoldaten” - the carnival’s regiment of my quarter!
With their flag in front.
Got an extra smile for the photo!
The musicians (apparently taking a break).
The dancing girls.
This guy called “Here! Here!” – Okay then, here’s YOUR photo!
And gone they were again.
How surreal!
Living in the place where women’s carnival has been invented (which this statue on the Rhein promenade is there to remind us of)…
… I had to introduce our English guest to the custom of Weiberfastnacht today.
Even though we did not go to see the parade outside (because it was too freezing) we dressed up as furious washer women to make some photos for today:
